In Your garden somewhere there is some kind of septic system. This could be a holding tank that needs to be regularly pumped out by a large unpleasant smelling truck and taken to a magical place where some one else deals with it. If You haven't had that done lately, then you probably have the system that passes through your septic and goes to a different chamber that leaches your waste out into the soil beneath your garden, maybe towards your well or that little babbling brook.
